Maxeda has appointed Wouter Haasloop Werner (41) as Chief Information Officer (CIO) as of 1 May 2008.
Amsterdam, 18 March 2008. More than 1,700 young people without qualifications have found work thanks to a unique cooperation between CWI (Centrum voor Werk en Inkomen – centre for work and income) and Maxeda. This has easily exceeded the original goal of providing work experience for 1,000 unskilled young people up to 23 years of age, without qualifications.
Amsterdam, 26 February 2008. Maxeda has been nominated by the World Retail Congress, the prestigious ‘World Retail Award’ in the category ‘Employer of the Year’.

Maxeda B.V. (‘Maxeda’) and Lion Capital LLP (‘Lion Capital’) today signed the definitive agreement on the transfer of HEMA B.V. (‘HEMA’) to Lion Capital. The two companies previously signed an agreement on 1 June of this year, conditional to the approval of the relevant works councils and competition authorities.
Ronald van der Mark, CFO of Maxeda, has today been awarded ‘CFO of the Year’ at the ‘Annual Financial Management Congress’. Van der Mark was praised by the jury for his ability to “create value for Maxeda due to his clear focus and drive in bringing about a large number of important projects and optimize processes.”
Paul Bringmann, General Manager of La Place, has been awarded ‘Retail Personality of 2007’.
Amsterdam, 1 June 2007. Maxeda B.V. (“Maxeda”) and Lion Capital LLP (“Lion Capital”) today announce that an agreement has been reached through which Lion Capital will acquire HEMA B.V. (“HEMA”). The acquisition is subject to a request for advice submitted to the Works Councils and to the approval of the relevant Competition Authorities.
The Netherlands’ best-known stores are again launching the largest nationwide discount campaign. Bijenkorf, V&D, HEMA, Hunkemöller, M&S, Praxis and Formido have pooled their resources for the third time in order to enable their customers to benefit from reduced prices for a three-week period. Dixons and Dynabyte are also taking part. The co-operation of these stores makes the ‘Kris Kras’ campaign unique in the Netherlands.
Maxeda announces that due to differences in strategy Jos Wientjes will be leaving Claudia Sträter by mutual consent.
Maxeda formats Hunkemöler and Claudia Sträter are awarded ‘Best Place to Work’ by Effectory – market leader in employees satisfaction surveys. Furthermore, also Maxeda formats HEMA and La Place are nominated prestigious awards.
Maxeda B.V. (“Maxeda”) announces that the Executive Board and SupervisorMaxeda Supervisory Board have taken the decision last week to start a strategic review which may result in the sale of its operating subsidiary HEMA B.V. (“HEMA”). The review will be conducted to investigate the best options to facilitate the future potential of HEMA outside Maxeda. The strategic review relates to the HEMA subsidiary only.
New Maxeda Strategy Delivers Strong Results
Dirk Goeminne has decided to step down as Chairman of the Board of V&D and Executive Board Member at Maxeda. At V&D he will be succeeded by Mark McKeon, until recently COO of fashion brands Principles and Warehouse.
The Maxeda company pension fund, the largest company pension fund in the Dutch retail sector, is to merge with the Stichting Bedrijfstakpensioenfonds voor de Detailhandel (Bpf Detailhandel), the largest Dutch retail sector pension fund.
Nick Wilkinson will join the Maxeda Executive Board by February 2007 and will become responsible for the Do-it-yourself Group.
